Domain Names
Domain Names Domain names are the address by which your site is found on the Internet. All sites must have one. There are two major types of domain names.
- First there is the top level domain name. It looks like this: www.yourdomain.com
- Then there is the subdomain name. It looks like this: yourdomain.somehost.com
It is always better to have a top domain name because it is more professional. Some search engines will not index subdomains. This is another reason to have a top domain name.
We do not sell domain names here but our affileate, Power Web Solutions, does. The cost for having your own top level domain name is nominal. Their price for the most common domain names is $9.99 (com .net .org .us .biz) per year.
Power Web Solutions also offers hosting plans as low as5.49/mo. if you have the knowledge to build your site from scratch by yourself. We telll you this because our goal is to give you the best value for your dollars. Here at Good News Hosting we give you site building software for free that you can use from any computer with internet access.
To get your domain name, if you don't already have one click here and then follow the Domain Names/Register Domains links. This will open another window in your browser so you won't loose your place here.

Should your church have a website? Posted at 12/07/09 - 11:20 PM
The Internet is a powerful tool that churches use to expand their ministry, proclaim the gospel, advertise their church, and touch people. A PUBLICITY TOOL A web site is a publicity tool much like a yellow page or newspaper ad. More than 80% of the new people in your area will search the Internet to find a church. Although a web site will not suddenly make your church double in size it will bring new people into your church. A web site has many advantages over a yellow page ad (although you should have this too). You can put so much more information on a web site and you can communicate the personality of your church. A COMMUNICATIONS TOOL A web site is a great tool for communicating with your church members. You can keep a calendar of upcoming events and activities on your site. You can keep sermon outlines there for your members to review. You can post prayer requests (be careful with this one some may not want too much information available to the public). AN EXTENDED MINISTRY TOOL A web site reaches the entire world, not just your local community. Offering surfers a place to ask questions can be rewarding. Posting articles on various spiritual subjects can be a big help to others. Online Bible studies can help people grow in their faith. CONCLUSION The things that can be done with a church web site are limited only by your imagination. Don't expect a web site to work miracles in your church but do use it as a tool to supplement other tools and ministries.
